This week we spent a lot of time reading independently for language arts time. The students are on a tear with reading right now. They are recommending books to each other like crazy, which is just awesome. They are even recommending books to me. I have a huge pile to take home over the summer. Don't forget to load up for summer reading. The book order is due Friday, May 11th!
We spent 3 days on the Math SBAC. I am so impressed with the students' perseverance. The performance tasks were especially difficult, but they stuck to it, checked their work over and over and over again to be sure they were correct.
After we completed the SBAC, we have been reviewing the concepts we learned this year. It's amazing to me how much curriculum we've covered in such a short time.
We completed our 15 art lessons this week. The students chose the art masterpiece that will be on display at the art fair on May 23rd. They have done a really nice job with their projects.
Odds & Ends
As we are nearing the end of 5th grade and your child's time at Springhill, there are many events and activities we'll be having, so be sure to read your emails, ask questions if you need clarification, and enjoy! Your kids have worked hard these last 6 years and they are ready for that next step: Middle School:)
